The gotcha: "3 months" is not always 90 days
- Which months matter. January to March is 90 days (91 in a leap year); March to May is 92. The same "3 months" spans a different number of days depending on where it starts.
- Days are exact, months are not. In a contract, "90 days" is precisely 90 calendar days, while "3 months" is the date three months later. That difference can carry legal weight.
- Business days stretch it further. 90 business days is about 126 calendar days, closer to 4.1 months than 3.
