How it's calculated
Human = 15·c (c ≤ 1); 15 + 9(c − 1) (1 < c ≤ 2); 24 + 4(c − 2) (c > 2)
c = cat age in years. AAFP/AAHA feline life-stage mapping: first year ≈ 15 human years, second adds ≈ 9, then ≈ 4 per year thereafter. Royal Canin and simple ×7 methods are also selectable.
Common values
| Cat age | Human age (AAFP) |
|---|---|
| 1 year | 15 |
| 2 years | 24 |
| 5 years | 36 |
| 10 years | 56 |
Common questions
How old is my cat in human years?
A one-year-old cat is about 15 in human terms, and a two-year-old is roughly 24. After that each cat year adds about four human years.
Is the 7x rule accurate?
Not really. Cats age fast early in life, so the modern AAFP and Royal Canin curves are more realistic than a flat 7x.
