Common questions
How is HP calculated at level 1 in 5e?
Level 1 HP is the maximum of your class hit die plus your Constitution modifier. A d10 Fighter with +2 CON starts at 12.
Should I take average or roll for HP?
Average HP is the safer, more consistent choice. Rolling can give more but also risks low results, so many tables use the fixed average.
