eDPI is DPI and sensitivity rolled into one number
Your mouse DPI and the game's sensitivity slider both scale your aim, so neither one tells the whole story on its own. eDPI multiplies them together into a single figure you can compare against any other player, whatever hardware they run.
400 DPI at 2.0 sens and 800 DPI at 1.0 sens both give an eDPI of 800 — identical aim speed from different settings. That is the whole point: two setups with the same eDPI turn the exact same amount.
eDPI in real desk distance
The distance to spin a full circle is 914.4 (that is 360 × 2.54 cm/inch) divided by eDPI. It is the one number that does not depend on resolution or frame rate.

Overwatch does not fit this scale — its slider runs 1 to 20 rather than around 1, so multiply DPI by that raw number if you want a comparable eDPI.
What to know before you copy a pro's numbers
- Precision games run low. Most CS2 pros sit around 600 to 800 eDPI. It feels slow at first, but the large, controlled arm movements build the muscle memory that wins one-shot duels.
- A good starting point is 800 eDPI. For CS2, Valorant or Overwatch, 800 to 1000 is a safe middle. Give any change two to four weeks before judging it — your aim adapts slowly.
- Match your mousepad, not just the pro. A low eDPI needs a big pad. Copying 600 eDPI on a small pad leaves no room to swing, so pick a number your desk can actually fit.
