RPM (Revolutions per Minute)

Works out RPM from a number of revolutions over a time span, or converts angular velocity to RPM. Add a radius and it also gives the rim speed in m/s, km/h, mph, and ft/s.

How to use
  1. Enter the number of revolutions and the time, or an angular velocity.
  2. Add a radius to get the linear rim speed.

Common questions

How do you convert rad/s to RPM?

Multiply the angular velocity in radians per second by 60 and divide by 2 pi, which is about 9.549 RPM per rad/s.

How does radius give rim speed?

Rim speed is the angular velocity times the radius, so a bigger wheel covers more distance per turn at the same RPM.
