Rolling Offset Calculator (Pipe Travel & Run)

Give it the rise, the roll, and the fitting angle, and you get the true offset and the center-to-center travel for cutting the pipe. It also returns the run and the rotation angle you need.

How to use
  1. Enter the rise (vertical offset) and roll (horizontal offset).
  2. Choose the fitting angle, such as 45 degrees.
Estimates only, allow for waste and confirm against local building codes and supplier specs.

Common questions

What is the true offset in a rolling offset?

It is the diagonal distance combining rise and roll, found with the Pythagorean theorem: true offset equals the square root of rise squared plus roll squared.

Why does the travel depend on the fitting angle?

Travel is the cut length between fitting centers. For a 45 degree fitting it equals the true offset times 1.414.
