Plywood Sheet Calculator (Sheets Needed)

Enter the area you need to cover and the sheet size, and it tells you how many plywood sheets to buy. The default is a standard 4-by-8-ft sheet, and it adds a 12 percent waste allowance.

How to use
  1. Enter the total area you're covering.
  2. Pick the sheet size: 4x8, 4x10, 4x12, 3x8, or a custom size.
  3. Adjust the waste percentage, then read the number of sheets.

Common questions

How many square feet is a 4x8 plywood sheet?

32 square feet. That's the most common size and the default here.

How much waste should I add?

Around 10 to 15 percent for cuts and offcuts is typical, so the calculator defaults to 12 percent. Add more for lots of small or angled pieces.
