Common questions

How high do I need to jump to dunk?

Enough so your jump reach passes the 10-foot rim with a few inches to spare for the ball. For someone 5'10" that often means a vertical near 28 to 35 inches, depending on arm length.

What is standing reach?

It is how high you can touch flat-footed with one arm up, usually about 1.33 times your height. It matters more than height alone for dunking.
