Common questions

Does going down stairs burn calories?

Yes, but less than climbing up. Descending has a lower MET value because gravity does part of the work.

How many calories does climbing stairs burn?

A 155 lb person burns roughly 8 to 10 calories per minute of brisk stair climbing, so 15 minutes is around 120 to 150 calories.
