Shelf Life & Expiration Date Calculator

Give it a production or packaging date and a shelf life, and it returns the exact expiry date, the day of the week it lands on, and how many days are left. It treats food, medicine, and inventory dates the same way.

How to use
  1. Enter the production or packaging date.
  2. Set the shelf life and switch its unit (days, weeks, months, or years).
Date math uses your inputs as given; check time-zone and leap-year edge cases.

Common questions

How does it count the shelf life?

It adds the shelf life straight onto the production date, weekends and holidays included, and gives you the calendar date it lands on.

What's the difference between best-before and use-by?

Best-before is about quality, so food is usually fine a little past it. Use-by is about safety, so don't push that one. The date math is the same either way.

Can I work backwards from an expiry date?

Yes. Flip the direction and it finds the production or packaging date instead.
